Romano is a biomedical data scientist whose research bridges clinical/translational informatics and environmental toxicology. He develops AI-driven models and software tools—such as ComptoxAI, VenomKB, and the Alzheimer’s Knowledge Base (AlzKB)—to uncover the biological mechanisms behind environmental exposures and human disease. His focus includes maternal health, autoimmune adverse events, and natural products drug discovery. He earned a B.S. in Molecular Genetics (University of Vermont, 2014), followed by M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. degrees in Biomedical Informatics from Columbia University (Ph.D. 2019) . He completed postdoctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania before joining its faculty
